Early lead not enough for #5 Kalani
WAILUKU, Maui – Kalani jumped out to an early lead, but was unable to hold on and lost 4-3 to Maui Sabers on Friday.
While the Falcons led until the fifth inning, the Sabers worked its way back and took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Oshiro.
Maui couldn't get anything going as long as Harrison Moy was pitching. Moy gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out none during his three innings of work.
Jyrah Lalim recorded the win for the Sabers. He pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Maui was sparked by Kao Midoro and Kingsley Ballao, who teamed up for four hits and two RBIs.
Duke Fujii couldn't get it done on the hill for Kalani, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
Maui jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. THE Sabers' offense woke up as Midoro singled before Ballao tripled, plating Midoro.
After a quick strike from Maui, Kalani responded with three runs in the third. Kalani scored on a two-run double by Reece Kakugawa and an RBI single by Bronson Matsumoto.
Maui never trailed after scoring two runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Ballao and a sacrifice fly by Oshiro. Boxscore
