Kalani tops Moanalua in back-and-forth affair
Kalani took the last of five lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against Moanalua, securing a 3-2 victory on Wednesday at Moanalua.
The Falcons took the lead in the top of ninth and held on for the victory. A sacrifice fly by Kohl Suehiro scored Payton Awaya and gave Kalani the lead for good.
Awaya was solid at the plate for Kalani. Awaya went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the ninth inning.
Connor Zalewski worked out of 17 tricky spots for the Falcons. He pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits. Zalewski faced his most difficult moment in the seventh inning.
Christopher Nam got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He pitched one shutout inning. He struck out none, walked two and surrendered no hits.
